Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Required Skills and Knowledge

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

identify and rectify site operating problems on at least two occasions, including:

monitoring plant and equipment performance according to monitoring programs

confirming and clarifying information from others to identify faults, problems or malfunctions

applying diagnostic and fault finding techniques when visually and physically inspecting plant and equipment

determining plant and equipment problems and malfunctions

adjusting plant and equipment to maintain optimum performance and function

identifying plant and equipment problems that require emergency shutdown procedures

rectifying problems within capability and reporting activity

reporting problems outside of capability and performing activities as instructed

reporting on problems and malfunctions

maintaining plant and equipment records.

During the above, the candidate must:

locate and apply relevant documentation, policies and procedures and confirm that the work activity is compliant

implement the requirements, procedures and techniques for identifying and rectifying site operating problems,
